John founded Dalziel & Vine in 2010 and started with a small coffee bar located next to the UK's leading Event and Exhibition centre ExCel in the Royal Docks Area of London.
Although the coffee business was incredibly popular it was difficult to maintain as viable with only morning business and some lunchtime sandwich trade. In 2012 the style of operation was changed and John, following his love of the wine industry, opened La Barrique in January ahead of what would be a busy year including the London 2012 Olympics.
Since then the business has grown and a sister restaurant Tapa Tapa has been opened next door to La Barrique.
Our next restaurant is due to open in February 2018 south of Canary Wharf followed by another in E16 by Easter 2018. We are currently looking for further locations up to 4000 Sq Ft in the City & East London.
We source wines from all over the world for clients in the US, UK and Scandinavia in addition to our own restaurants and those of some of our friends.
We broker deals for quality wines in the medium price range. Always amazing quality and always taste ahead of their price point.
I have always loved spending time with my family, friends and guests and nothing gives me more pleasure than organising events, dinners and wine tastings.
As such I have spent the majority of my career opening and operating amazing bars, restaurants and nightclubs in the UK and Europe previously for some of the major players and now with Dalziel & Vine operating my own restaurans in London as well as brokering wine deals.
My love of wine means that I am always discussing the topic with friends, colleague and clients and as you may expect my venues have what I believe are an excellent selection of wines representing the very best value examples from most of the world's wine regions - all at competitive prices. We are not pretentious at D&V and only deal with wines that the majority of market can afford.
If visiting any of our venues please let me know as I'd love to hear form you. Yes my name is a little unusual and difficult so feel free to call me...
